An Introduction to commencing arbitration under the ICC Rules

Simon Greenberg*

The ICC Court is the world's largest international arbitral institution. Like arbitration, the power of the Court is generally derived from a contractual or submission agreement of the parties to have their arbitration administered under the Rules. The Rules (ultimately interpreted by the Court) and the Court's Secretariat provide a service to disputants that is designed to increase the convenience of arbitration.

This article briefly examines some of the procedural rules of the Court and provides a general outline for commencing arbitration.
